K1200RS – design work in progress

Welcome back to my world. Since August I’m working on this design. It’s pretty hard to obtain ANY line on this project. I’ve landed on making all the body work on my own. This is a challenge also. It will be my first tank made from a scratch. Material is steel 0.8mm and 4 mm iron rods for a mold. I’m not able to weld aluminium at the moment so that was the only option. I’m about to make tank and rear as one part.

The other thing that focused your eye is the majestic front BMW kidney-like radiator holder. This part was made by a friend of mine from Targal Motorcycle. This mold is made from 27kg block of raw aluminium. After cutting it weight around 6 kg which is a lot, but I’ll try to address this issue later. It would be a spectacular feature, as I wrote, radiator holder and a headlight.

Finally I’ve found some time to put the great GSX1200 together. I’m proud of this one. First vintage sport model I’ve designed and made. I think it might be finished really fast because all the parts are ready to install. Then it will seek it’s new owner. Maybe You like …

Ugly#08 Yamaha XV920 Virago 1983

Yet another, most popular custom bike, I suppose according to what people like and order to build.

The great Yamaha XV920 Virago.

This particular donor bike is a mint! Just look at this 33 year old Japan engineering masterpiece.

Now, I can say that there is ZX12R front and on it’s way and 1979 Kawasaki kz650 fuel tank being striped out of it’s paint. So to make Yamaha great – add some Kawasaki parts!?

Ugly#07 BMW K1200 RS 2002

This one will be very interesting.

A friend of mine was looking for a big bike to match his size and make him stand out on the street. He wanted to built something from a a scratch so we decided to buy this wreck.

There are not many things to say right now except this project is bonkers from the start.

Suzuki smooth lines.

Hey, I know, I know. Suzuki is as smooth as Polish roads. Gearbox rattle every time you shift, engins makes funny noise on idle.
It’s hard to compare it to Honda or European brands. This particular GSX isn’t even smooth when You twist the throttle because it want’s to disassemble your wrists with sheer power.

One thing this Suzi is doing smooth is the way it looks.

The lines are just flawless. When I look at it, I feel I can draw the bike with a single fluid line. The bodywork I’ve designed reflects just that. I’ve extended the lines on the tank with a fairing and made the rear and tank looks like they were molded in one piece. Have a look.

Still some work ahead but I’m happy enough with what I’ve achieved.

GSX 1200 -curves

I’ve started the long process of fitting the fiberglass CB750 fairing to enormous GSX 1200 wide body. To be honest it wasn’t the engine capacity that makes all the problems with the fairing. It’s the front end which is from GSX-R1000 and it’s just so big and with a different angles. Check out the photo and let me know if You like it.

Ugly#06 Suzuki GSX1200 Inazuma

Lets get things started.

I’ve done some kilometres on this bike and I must say it’s wonderful for a guy like me who still masters the thing called riding. It’s light on steering doesn’t wanna do wheelie and kill you on every throttle twist, but when you cross the 7-8k rpm border there’s a Mexican Tabasco sauce waiting to rip your ass.

Knowing that I’ve started to work on this project very excited.
I want to make it like we usually do in Ugly Motors… Sporty.

I’ve bought many parts to make this bike as it should went out of factory. Main changes which I like and wanted to notice are GSXR 1000 K04 complete front end with RME custom fork clamps, Spark Short muffler with catalogue no. G00SI010I, Intake changes both K&N filters and re-jetted carbs, custom front fairing which you can see on the photos are still needed to be cut and fitted.

There is still plenty work to do so tune in…

We tried to merge, what is hard to combine. Classic and sporty. This build took more time during the design process than others. It wasn’t easy to make it look and feel connected.
