Honda GL500 – Black beauty

Maybe in a shade of XV 920 splendor we’ve completed not that shout-out-loud bike. It’s Honda GL500 from 82′ and it looks like it’s becoming our specialty to build this glorious machines. It supposed to be black, and it is black. Mean. Beautiful. Something about the build: GSXR 750 front …

This one will be very interesting.

A friend of mine was looking for a big bike to match his size and make him stand out on the street. He wanted to built something from a a scratch so we decided to buy this wreck.

There are not many things to say right now except this project is bonkers from the start.

Suzuki smooth lines.

Hey, I know, I know. Suzuki is as smooth as Polish roads. Gearbox rattle every time you shift, engins makes funny noise on idle.
It’s hard to compare it to Honda or European brands. This particular GSX isn’t even smooth when You twist the throttle because it want’s to disassemble your wrists with sheer power.

One thing this Suzi is doing smooth is the way it looks.

The lines are just flawless. When I look at it, I feel I can draw the bike with a single fluid line. The bodywork I’ve designed reflects just that. I’ve extended the lines on the tank with a fairing and made the rear and tank looks like they were molded in one piece. Have a look.

Still some work ahead but I’m happy enough with what I’ve achieved.

Ugly#05 Honda GL500 82′ – done.

Good times.

This bike was a true challenge to build. I struggle to find the right balance and lines on the rear end of GL500 frame. It’s much easier with CX500 where You got single tube between carburettors. Here on Silverwing You got this fat straight lines of frame and Pro Link swing arm.

I hope You like the bike and photos. I’ve started to work with my friend photographer and the effects to me was stunning.

The crash

Since it’s not only a motorcycle crafting page but it is filled with riding factor, I’ll share a story with you all. Last Thursday I had an accident. I’m ok, hopefully will get out of the hospital soon. Speed was low, a guy didn’t see me and I was on a main street. Whatever. We motorcyclists are the ones who carry all the psychical aspects of the crash – that is when we survive one, like I did.
It’s not easy to ride in that jungle especially when you have kids and family.

I just wanted to say ride safe to all 2wheeled folks out there!
See you on the streets

The Seat.

Long time waited.

GL500 seat.

Ash wood with solid rings structure buffed by red wood paint and covered with few solid varnish coats. Brown leather with vintage stripes sowed by our friend. Still waiting for mounting the light where the old will meet the future.

Glorious detail about to complete bike overall effect.
