Ugly#08 Yamaha XV920 Virago 1983

Yet another, most popular custom bike, I suppose according to what people like and order to build.

The great Yamaha XV920 Virago.

This particular donor bike is a mint! Just look at this 33 year old Japan engineering masterpiece.

More photos and posts to come!

Now, I can say that there is ZX12R front and on it’s way and 1979 Kawasaki kz650 fuel tank being striped out of it’s paint. So to make Yamaha great – add some Kawasaki parts!?

As always – stay tuned!

This project was my 3rd build and from a start it was supposed to be an impossible task to manage. I set myself a goal that I need to build something that will stand out from the other Viragos at the Cafe Racer market. Seeing the lines of a tank I figured out a way to extend them to the rear subframe. I don’t like the way people join a seat with the original tank of Virago and designed my own solution. Another challenge was the front end.

The list of custom made parts for this beauty is quite impressive according to 3 month building process: Steel rear frame, exhaust system with silencers, Custom fitted ZX7RR complete front fork, wheel, brakes, clip on’s, Custom shaped tailored and stuffed seat with all the fitting needed, Same leather as the seat used to wrap grips, Custom fitted original Virago tank, front light + fuse box mount, number plate mount, Yamaha R1 rear sets adapters, K&N filter mount, rear light bar.
